BAS is committed to challenging stigma and discrimination at all levels and supporting individuals, families and communities most impacted by AIDS. Combined with life-saving treatment, this care and support has transformed hundreds of lives. Our programs address the needs of individuals to help stay safe and to properly learn how to utilize items to make safe decisions. Our Educational outreach staff are available to speak to organizations, churches, community groups, schools, and businesses about the HIV/AIDS epidemic. BAS can also staff a table at a health fair to ensure educational information is available to the public.
More than one million people in the United States have HIV, and thousands will die from AIDS-related complications this year alone. Since our founding, BAS has been fully committed to providing HIV and AIDS services to our community.
Our programs provide support for people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS, 365 days a year. We offer counseling for individuals, groups, couples and families, plus a variety of events, speakers and informal social gatherings for positive people and their loved ones.
Teen Talk is BAS largest Youth Health Education Program. We provide services for youth from a harm reduction, prevention education perspective. We focus on issues under the broad topics of sexual and mental health and link youth to resources in their community. We adhere to the belief that by providing youth with accurate, non judgmental information they can make healthier decisions and choices for themselves. Check out our Operating Principles to learn more about how we do our work.
